Guided Hike: Wertheim Refuge Ramble (LI Greenbelt)

This hike is hosted by the Long Island Greenbelt Trail Conference.

Two hikes in one, taking in both sides of the scenic Carmans River in this beautiful National Wildlife Refuge; optional dropout at 3.5 miles; bring water and snacks; rain or snow cancels. Directions: From L. I. E. Exit 68S or NY 27 Exit 58S, go south on William Floyd Parkway to Montauk Highway (C.R. 80); turn right (west) about half a mile to traffic light and left onto Smith Road; follow Smith Road to Refuge entrance on the right; hike leaves promptly at 10:10 AM; free parking; limited to members only.
