This hike is hosted by the Long Island Greenbelt Trail Conference.

3 or 6 miles | Easy | Flat

Let’s explore the fall wonders of a natural L.I. habitat which includes marine bay, tidal river, freshwater streams, ponds, salt marsh and much more, exploring two trails along the Carmans River; you can drop out after the first trail (3 miles); heavy rain cancels; pack
a lunch and we will eat at the picnic tables; take William Floyd Pkwy. south to Montauk Highway (C.R. 80) in Shirley; go west to traffic light at Smith Road, then left to refuge entrance; meet in parking lot.
